Travel Tip Thursday – How to decide where and when to travel
Traveling nowadays offers so many options if you have the time and money you could visit almost every corner of the world. Choosing the next spot for your vacation can be overwhelming, especially if you also have to take into consideration the timing of your trip. Here are a few pointers on how to choose the best time and place to travel.
Decide how long you want to travel
If you only have a short time for your trip, it’s not a good idea to spend most of it on the road. There are mapping apps that can show you how far can you get depending on how much time you want to spend traveling. Then you can check the map and start looking what are the places that would interest you the most and once you’ve made a decision you can start booking.
Decide how much you’re willing to spend
Most people make savings for their trips long in advance. Knowing your budget will help you decide where you want to go next. If you have a bigger budget, you can travel farther and can stay and visit for a longer time. But that doesn’t mean if you have less you can’t enjoy a good trip somewhere closer to you. Only you can determine what is worth spending your money on. Some prefer expensive restaurants and luxurious resorts over traveling further. Others want to experience all that a country has to offer and opt to spend their earnings on visiting as much as possible.
There are also a lot of cheap places you can visit, in terms of accommodation and food, where you can save a few bucks and also get to visit a lot of tourist attractions.
Determine your preferred environment
You’ll most likely want to go to a place where the climate, landscape, and style of accommodation will suit you. If you’re more into warm and sunny weather, countries or islands located in the Southern Hemisphere would be more to your liking. Maybe you prefer the beach rather than the mountain, urban or rural areas, high-end hotels over camping. Deciding on each of these will help you zero in what location you want to travel to next.
When to pick the right time to travel
If you have a specific time frame in which you can take time off to travel (depends on your workplace) you are limited to check the weather and the prices of the accommodations and tourist attractions.
If you pick a location that is out of season (this depends on each country), you’ll catch lower prices and less agglomeration. In exotic places, for example, there are two seasons, high water and low water. So, if you’re more interested in taking boat excursions on the flooded waters into the forest, just go for it.
I hope these tips will help you determine where your next adventure will start. Whether you’ve traveled far and wide or have never left your town, deciding where to go next is never easy.
